YolanDa Brown

YolanDa Brown was born in East London to West Indian parents in the early 80’s. She began playing the saxophone at the age of 13 – after ‘dabbling’ with the piano, the violin and the drums since the tender age 6. She says of the saxophone that she ‘just felt at home with it’ and boy do the critics agree.

This east London beauty has picked up the Best Jazz Award at the Mobo’s two years in a row and has a list of accoladaes as long your arm including an Honorary Doctorate in Arts from the University of East London.

YolanDa Brown will be finally releasing her debut album  - April Showers May Flowers - to eager ears on 13th February 2012. Not one to do things by halves, YolanDa will be celebrating the launch of her first album with not one but two concerts at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.

14th February will see her take to the stage with Ian Shaw, Jacqui Dankworth and Omar. Whilst her performance on the 17th February will feature Mica Paris and Mike Aremu.

Both dates will be supported by a 10 piece live band, backing vocalists and the incredible Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
