Troy Bar

Like jazz? Like rice and peas? Then this is the place for you.

Troy bar is described on the website as London’s best kept secret. You've probably walked past the venues prime Shoreditch location umpteen times and not even noticed it. The non-descript entrance to the bar makes it easy for it to hide in the shadows of the newer Hoxton hotspots that command attention as you walk through the ‘Ditch’

Troy Bar one of the few places in Shoreditch that isn’t over run with ‘cool kids.’ There are no try hard outfits, the drinks are still cheap, and the food is good. £6.00 will see your belly full with a plate of rice and peas and your choice of fish chicken or mutton complete with all the trimmings (salad, coleslaw and plantain).

Every Friday night Troy bar plays host to an incredible jazz four piece. You can tell from the looks on these musicians’ faces and the sounds coming from their instruments that they are playing purely for the love of it.

If you get there early and you feel like you’ve walking into someones living room – don’t worry you are in the right place. Just grab a drink, order a plate – food sells out fast – nestle down and wait for the place to fill up.

The music doesn’t kick off till 10ish and is so captivating you’ll probably find it hard to tear yourself away in time for last trains. This one may have to be a night bus job but trust me, it’s worth it.

Troy Bar
10 Hoxton Street, London, N1 6NG
